On March 4, 2026, we had the unique privilege of hosting a film crew from Wicked Delicate Films (https://www.wickedelicate.com/about) here at the Candy Kitchen as part of a documentary project tied to the upcoming celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
This film, scheduled for release this summer, explores perspectives on America at this milestone moment. The concept was inspired by former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, who was 30 years old at the time of America’s Bicentennial and will turn 80 this year. His idea was to bring together individuals from different generations to reflect on where we are today as a country and to ask an important question: Are we as far apart as we sometimes feel—and how do we begin to heal?
As part of this effort, we were asked to help gather a group of Iowans around the age of 80. We were proud to invite Wilton locals Merrill Knouse, Tom Moeller, Leo Ochiltree, and Paul Drumm to participate in one of these conversations.
Wicked Delicate Films bring together voices from communities across the country, and we were honored that Wilton was included. We look forward to seeing the finished film this summer and are grateful to everyone involved in making this experience possible.
